We must focus on teaching essential and transferable human skills more than things we can Google. We must focus more on project-based assessments with an authentic audience and local partners, and less on bubble sheets or standardized tests. Finally, we must center our work on mentoring teacher-student relationships empowering student interests and passions, over our own interests and our fixed curriculum. "

CORY'S  AREAS OF EXPERTISE
In his work as the Innovation Coordinator at Iron County School District, Cory founded this personalized competency-based school. Students progress and earn credit based on demonstrated mastery of academics and transferable skills. The way they demonstrate their mastery is by finding solutions, in partnership with local organizations, to design challenges that are connected with students' curriculum and passions .
